Video on Vision Zero for the transportation sector Effectively communicating the essence of Vision Zero is crucial for creating safer workplaces. A new short video has been released, highlighting the vision for protecting the health, safety, and well-being of workers in the transportation industry. Vision Zero implementation stories The Vision Zero website has opened a new “Vision Zero implementation” section. This includes a range of stories on successful experiences of implementing the Vision Zero strategy and approach. ISSA highlights heat stress prevention at G20 OSH Network meeting The International Social Security Association (ISSA) emphasized the critical importance of prevention and the role of accident insurance institutions in addressing heat stress in the workplace during the recent G20 OSH Network meeting in Fortaleza, Brazil. BRICS ministers discuss occupational safety and health When the BRICS Ministers of Labour and Employment met on 9–10 September 2024, they made commitments on occupational safety and health (OSH). The International Social Security Association (ISSA) contributed to the discussions. “Cultural diversity at work”: A successful Symposium From 27 to 29 May 2024, a Symposium on Cultural Diversity at Work: Safe and Healthy Integration of Skilled Workers took place in Dresden, Germany and online, organized by the ISSA Sections on Prevention of Occupational Risks in Health Services and in Transportation. ISSA–ALASEHT: A new Memorandum of Understanding The ISSA Prevention Section for Electricity, Gas and Water and the Latin American Association for Safety and Hygiene at Work (Asociación Latinoamericana de Seguridad e Higiene en el Trabajo – ALASEHT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 51st Congreso Nacional e Internacional de Seguridad and the 23rd JOLASEHT in Mexico City, 5–7 November. Vison Zero was also on the agenda. A successful Symposium on “Maintenance Hazards” Two days of informative presentations and exciting discussions took place at the International Symposium ”Hazardous Substances in Maintenance Work: Risks and Prevention“, 11–12 June 2024, in Frankfurt, Germany. With around 100 interested participants, event of the ISSA Section on Prevention in the Chemical Industry was a great success. Video recordings of all contributions can be viewed until the end of 2024. Let's talk about OSH – Have you ever prepared for a natural disaster? The latest episode of the web talk series “Let's talk about OSH – Have you ever…?”, organized by the ISSA Special Commission on Prevention, took place on 19 November 2024 and looked at why it is increasingly important for workplaces to integrate natural disaster preparedness and response into occupational safety and health (OSH) protocols. Safety Award 2025 – Machine and System Safety Although progress has been made, many accidents are still related to safety failures related to machinery. As it does every three years, the ISSA Prevention Section on Machine and System Safety is launching in 2025, the Safety Award to encourage manufacturers to improve machine safety and ergonomics. The submission started on 1 October 2024 and the deadline is 30 June 2025. Global Supply Chains – An Open-Source Toolbox At the Symposium "Vision Zero for Sustainability along Global Supply Chains - beyond Due Diligence Obligations" held in October 2024 in Berlin, the development of an open-source toolbox to help companies in complying with the European legal framework and the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (SCDDA) was introduced. Global Supply Chains: A Successful International ISSA Symposium in Berlin The symposium "Vision Zero for Sustainability along Global Supply Chains - Beyond Due Diligence Obligations," held in Berlin on October 22-23, brought together 80+ experts from 19 countries across four continents. Organized by ISSA Trade with Chemical, Construction, Information, and Mining Sections, it addressed supply chain challenges and proposed solutions. |
